Newsweek Recognizes Sedgwick as America's Greatest Workplaces National Top Companies Certified as a Great Place to Work® Fortune Best Workplaces in Financial Services & Insurance Marine Surveyor **PRIMARY PURPOSE** **:** To inspect cargo damaged in transit and determine the nature, cause, and extent of damages; to review documents to determine when the cargo was damaged; and to provide written reports to underwriters and other parties with his/her qualified opinion as to the cause of loss. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES** + Oversees loading and unloading of cargo from ships and other forms of transit to document damages as they are loaded and/or unloaded. + Inspects damaged ships to determine cause of the damage and amount of damage resulting from collisions or motor failures. **ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES** + Performs other duties as assigned. + Supports the organization's quality program(s). + Travels as required. **QUALIFICATIONS** **Education & Licensing** Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. **Experience** Five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. **Skills & Knowledge** + Good oral and written communication skills + PC literate, including Microsoft Office products + Good customer service skills + Good organizational skills + Ability to work independently and in a team environment + Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies **WORK ENVIRONMENT** When applicable and appropriate, consideration will be given to reasonable accommodations. **Mental** **:** Clear and conceptual thinking ability; excellent judgment, troubleshooting, problem solving, analysis, and discretion; ability to handle work-related stress; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously; and ability to meet deadlines **Physical** **:** + Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time. + Must be able to kneel, squat or bend. + Must be able to work outdoors in hot and/or cold weather conditions. + Have the ability to: climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, and reaching/working overhead. + Be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds. + Be able to drive up to 4 hours per day. + Must have continual use of manual dexterity **Auditory/Visual** **:** Hearing, vision and talking The statements contained in this document are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by a colleague assigned to this description.
