Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration Technician

A Day in This Role

Under general supervision, you’ll run your day with a high degree of independence, moving through the warehouse to keep our industrial refrigeration assets running at peak performance. Your morning may begin by reviewing trends, alarms, and work orders in our Oracle CMMS, then walking the floor to confirm setpoints, pressures, and temperatures across the system. When you spot something off, you diagnose, adjust, repair, and verify—always with safety and compliance at the forefront.

What You’ll Own

• Operate, adjust, and repair industrial refrigeration systems supporting warehouse operations.
• Continuously monitor performance; recognize abnormal conditions and act to restore proper operation.
• Replace system components using proper Lockout/Tagout procedures and in alignment with the facility’s Process Safety Management (PSM) program.
• Perform basic pump down/evacuation of refrigerant as needed to safely repair or replace valves.
• Complete routine maintenance on a variety of warehouse equipment in accordance with OSHA standards.
• Test, evaluate, and calibrate equipment using voltmeters, ohmmeters, pyrometers, pressure gauges, and related instrumentation; calibrate HVAC/R equipment as required.
• Verify completed work meets drawings, specifications, and safety requirements.
• Troubleshoot to root cause and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Test safety equipment to confirm compliance with OSHA and operational standards.
• Maintain accurate preventive maintenance records in the CMMS (Oracle).
• Maintain a 6S work area—organized, clean, and inspection-ready—and support general housekeeping.
• Support flexible scheduling needs, including on-call coverage when required.
• Perform related duties and additional assignments as needed.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2+ years of experience in industrial refrigeration maintenance; OR
• 3+ years in industrial maintenance plus a relevant industry credential (e.g., RETA, Garden City, EPA Universal, etc.).
• Commitment to complete assigned industrial refrigeration and maintenance coursework.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair with multiple control platforms (ALTA/Allen Bradley, etc.).
• HAZMAT training with the ability to obtain and maintain certification.
• Experience working within an Oracle Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

• RETA CARO and/or CIRO certification.
• Advanced skill diagnosing to the component level on refrigeration equipment.
• Experience mentoring and training junior technicians.
