HVAC/R Service Technician
Position Summary We are seeking an experienced HVAC/R Service Technician to join our South Shore team. You will operate with a high degree of independence to troubleshoot, service, overhaul, and maintain a wide variety of commercial climate control systems, supermarket rack refrigeration, and Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) technology. Key Responsibilities Diagnostics & Repair: Independently troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair malfunctions in commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems, including boilers, chillers, rooftop units (RTUs), and rack systems. Advanced Systems Management: Perform start-ups, adjustments, and repairs on Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems, VFDs, and mechanical automation controls. Preventative Maintenance: Conduct comprehensive inspections, site surveys, system modifications, and routine seasonal maintenance to ensure peak efficiency for client infrastructure. Blueprint Translation: Follow technical blueprints, wiring diagrams, piping schemes, and manufacturer engineering specifications to resolve complex component errors. Client Relations: Deliver clear technical support and five-star customer service, communicating system needs professionally with commercial facility managers. Documentation & Safety: Maintain accurate digital job records, system paperwork, and refrigerant logs while adhering strictly to OSHA and company safety protocols. Qualifications & Requirements Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of dedicated field experience in commercial HVAC/R service. Licensing: Valid Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician or Journeyman License Certifications: EPA Universal Certification for proper refrigerant handling. Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of basic electricity, complex electrical control systems, and commercial refrigeration piping. Equipment Proficiency: Competency with top brands like Carrier, Mitsubishi, and Daikin is highly advantageous. Driver’s License: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record to operate a company-provided service vehicle. Physical Capabilities: Ability to lift up to 100 lbs, navigate ladders, work aloft, and operate comfortably in confined environments (crawl spaces, rooftops, attics) under diverse weather conditions.
