New England Life Care currently has an opening for a Purchasing Specialist. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position. The normal schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00am until 5:00pm with a one-hour lunch break. This is a hybrid position and will only require you to be on-site for 1-2 days per week.
Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of the Regional Director of Purchasing, the person in this position is responsible for the ordering, receiving and management of inventory.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Initiates purchase orders for drugs, supplies, and equipment. Places orders and completes appropriate follow-up to ensure timely receipt of product.
- Maintains organized and accurate purchase order records, ensures that all invoices are reviewed for accuracy and coded appropriately, and submitted to Accounts Payable in a timely manner for payment.
- Monitors and ensures effective product/drug recall and removal of outdated or unwanted inventory
- Tracks and reports waste/consumables with appropriate staff
- Monitor and communicate drug and supply shortages (anticipated or unanticipated) to appropriate staff. Participates in or leads shortage committee meetings
- Ensures adequate levels of drugs, supplies and equipment are available at all times to minimize shortages.
- Coordinates, monitors, and initiates inter pharmacy site transfers of drug and supply
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with all members of NELC Supply Chain Management (SCM) team members, including on site reviews and education
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with all product line agents at Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) as well as drug and supply distributors.
- Assists in the development and monitoring of all Supply Chain Management and Key Performance Improvement dashboards and goals
- Assists Regional Director of Purchasing with identifying cost and inventory reduction strategies
- Demonstrates knowledge of all NELC SCM contracts as well as assuring compliance through the reporting of data
- Assists in determining if newly suggested products are available for inclusion to NELC inventory.
- Serves as primary internal liaison to help ensure appropriate utilization of the 340B Drug Discount Program.
- Ensures departmental compliance with all NELC policies and procedures, federal, state and Joint Commission regulations/standards.
- Ensures compliance with all company and regulatory documentation requirements which includes but is not limited to comprehensive documentation of drug and equipment procurement, performance improvement activity documentation, and of monitoring key performance indicators and dashboard reporting on a continual basis.
- Responsible for the daily maintenance and timely updating of the Accounts Payable system. All invoices, approvals, and related tasks should be reviewed and processed promptly to ensure the system remains current and accurate.
- Ability to travel between facilities to support operational, purchasing, and departmental initiatives.
Qualifications / Skills That Contribute to Success:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certification/Licensure as Pharmacy Technician preferred
- Excellent Organizational Skills
- The ability to work independently, take initiative, prioritize tasks and escalate issues.
- Able to collaborate in a team environment
- Customer Service-related skills
- Knowledge of basic computer systems (MS Office)
