Position Summary
The Technical Marketing Manager - Americas (Aerospace & Defense / Defense Modernization) leads the development and execution of marketing strategy for Tektronix's market segments aligned with Defense Modernization megatrend, with a strong focus on aerospace, military, and government sectors. This role serves as the primary marketing strategist for defense-focused technical solutions and works closely with the mil/gov Business Development, Sales, Product Marketing, and Channel teams to define messaging, positioning, segmentation, and go-to-market plans that resonate with defense and government customers across the Americas.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical credibility, a strong understanding of defense procurement and modernization trends (e.g., avionics, radar, EW/ES, secure communications, power & energy test solutions), and experience in translating complex technical capabilities into differentiated market value for defense audiences.
Salary Range
U.S. Base Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000 per year (target)
Range reflects the specialized nature of defense sector marketing, federal/mil/government knowledge premium, and comparable compensation benchmarks in the U.S. technology sector.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Segment Leadership

Lead development of the aerospace & defense / defense modernization marketing strategy for the Americas region.

Define segment priority use cases, buyer personas, influence maps, and defense procurement pathways.

Translate market intelligence into action plans that inform product positioning, content, and campaign strategy.
Go-to-Market & Messaging

Craft compelling, technically accurate messaging frameworks tailored to defense/government programs and modernization priorities.

Partner with Product Marketing, Engineering, and Solutions teams to communicate differentiated value to defense stakeholders (e.g., program managers, S&T communities, system integrators).
Defense-Focused Demand Generation

Orchestrate multi-channel demand generation campaigns targeting defense and government segments, including webinar series, educational campaigns, account-based marketing (ABM), and digital outreach.

Collaborate with field marketing and partner marketing to adapt campaigns for key defense markets (U.S. DoD, prime contractors, defense integrators).
Sales Enablement & Technical Content

Develop defense-specific marketing assets such as playbooks, battle cards, solution briefs, white papers, technical webinars, and RFP support collateral.

Conduct training sessions with sales, business development, and channel partners to ensure awareness of messaging, use case positioning, and competitive differentiators.
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with Business Development, Government / MIL sales teams, Product Management, and Partner organizations to align strategy, messaging, and execution.

Integrate feedback loops from field teams to continually refine segment priorities and campaign effectiveness.
Market & Competitive Intelligence

Track defense technology trends, competitive moves, government procurement priorities (e.g., modernization budgets, NISPOM/CMMC influences, secure network requirements).

Provide insights and recommendations to leadership and Product teams.
Metrics & Performance Tracking

Define and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) including pipeline influence, campaign engagement, qualified lead generation, and deal support effectiveness.
Qualifications
Required
-
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Engineering, Business, or related field.

6+ years of experience in technical marketing, product marketing, or strategy functions in B2B technology, ideally with defense/government focus.

Demonstrated experience in marketing technical solutions to aerospace, defense, government, military, or highly regulated markets.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in technical storytelling.

Ability to work cross-functionally with global teams and influence without direct authority.
Preferred

Experience with defense procurement processes (e.g., DoD / government RFP cycles, GSA schedules, prime contractor engagement).

Understanding of defense modernization megatrends (avionics, EW/ES, secure communications, power systems, autonomous systems, test & measurement applications).

Prior success executing segmented ABM, field campaigns, and defense-centric events.

Familiarity with marketing and sales tools (Salesforce CRM, Marketing Automation, analytics platforms).
