A nationally recognized nonprofit healthcare system is seeking a strategic and mission-driven Senior Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations to lead institutional fundraising efforts across the organization. This individual will oversee a high-performing team, cultivate major funders, and shape department-wide strategies that align with enterprise priorities across clinical care, research, health equity, and innovation.
Position Summary
Reporting to the VP & Chief Development Officer, the Senior Director will manage a portfolio that raises $10M+ annually from corporate and foundation partners. As a member of the Development Executive Leadership Team, the Senior Director will play a critical role in department-wide planning, cross-functional collaboration, and system-wide fundraising execution—including the development strategy for two newly integrated hospitals.
This role requires a balance of strategic vision, operational acumen, and frontline fundraising experience, with a deep understanding of institutional philanthropy and healthcare funding trends.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision
Shape and implement a comprehensive institutional giving strategy across corporate and foundation channels
Partner with Development, clinical, and executive leadership to identify funding priorities and package philanthropic opportunities
Evaluate current program performance and design high-ROI initiatives that grow and diversify the portfolio
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to increase visibility of organizational leaders with funders
Revenue Growth & Portfolio Management
Lead efforts to secure major and principal gifts from corporations and foundations
Manage a personal portfolio of high-value institutional funders
Set and track revenue goals for institutional giving—identifying, cultivating, and stewarding prospects
Build strategic prospect pipelines to support research, clinical programs, and community health initiatives
Team Development & Culture Building
Lead and mentor a team of 10+ fundraising professionals
Drive department-wide collaboration, process improvements, and alignment across teams
Provide training and capacity-building opportunities to ensure competitive proposals and sustainable partnerships
Model inclusive leadership, equity, and transparency in management practices
Cross-Departmental Partnership
Coordinate with finance, legal, grants, and sponsored programs teams to ensure compliance and effective grant administration
Serve as a key contributor to executive team planning and long-term development strategy
Represent the organization in external meetings with funders, donors, boards, and philanthropic networks
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred)
12+ years of progressive experience in fundraising, including 10+ years in a leadership role within a complex nonprofit organization
Proven track record in institutional giving, with demonstrated success securing large grants and gifts from corporate and foundation funders
Deep experience with data-driven fundraising strategy, CRM systems, and proposal development
Experience in a matrixed organization , leading change and aligning teams across departments
