OT Developer

We are looking for an experienced Operational Technology Developer with a minimum of 5+ years of professional hands on experience in Siemens WinCC and TIA Portal to support the design, development, and implementation of industrial automation and control system solutions within a highly regulated biopharmaceutical R&D environment.

This role focuses on PLC programming, SCADA/HMI development, system integration, and industrial data connectivity , with a strong emphasis on Siemens-based automation environments . The successful candidate will contribute to reliable, scalable, and compliant OT solutions while working closely with product owners, architects, and cross functional teams in an international Agile delivery environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement industrial automation solutions for operational technology environments
• Develop PLC programs primarily using Siemens TIA Portal and create SCADA/HMI applications using Siemens WinCC
• Support integration of OT systems with higher level digital, laboratory, and manufacturing platforms
• Contribute to technical specifications, functional documentation, and validation related deliverables
• Ensure solutions align with applicable quality and compliance standards in regulated environments
• Implement industrial communication interfaces using protocols such as OPC UA, MODBUS, or Ethernet/IP
• Participate in system testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and proof of concept activities
• Collaborate with product owners, technical architects, and business stakeholders to refine requirements and deliver scalable solutions
• Contribute actively within Agile project structures and cross functional international development teams

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Automation, or a related technical field

Professional Experience

• Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in industrial automation, operational technology, or industrial control systems
• Proven hands on experience in PLC programming and industrial application development, with strong focus on Siemens TIA Portal and WinCC
• Solid project experience in designing and implementing automation solutions in industrial environments
• Experience working in manufacturing, life sciences, pharmaceutical, or similarly regulated environments is highly beneficial

Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in PLC programming using Siemens TIA Portal as a primary platform
• Strong practical experience in SCADA/HMI development using Siemens WinCC
• Experience with additional automation platforms such as CODESYS or comparable systems is advantageous
• Good understanding of industrial communication protocols such as OPC DA, OPC UA, MODBUS, or Ethernet/IP
• Familiarity with industrial control architectures and system integration principles
• Basic knowledge of SQL databases, software interfaces, and industrial data connectivity is advantageous

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with broader Siemens environments and integrated automation architectures
• Exposure to DCS platforms such as DeltaV or PCS systems
• Knowledge of GAMP 5, GxP, ISA 88, or ISA 95 standards
• Familiarity with REST APIs, WebSocket technologies, or modern integration concepts
• Experience with version control systems such as GitHub
• Exposure to testing automation, CI/CD pipelines, or containerized environments is an advantage
• Understanding of virtualization, monitoring tools, or industrial network architectures
