Emergency Shelter Support Specialist - Haverhill, MA

Amergis Healthcare Staffing is teaming up with a mission-driven nonprofit in Haverhill, MA to hire a dedicated individual for a frontline support role at their overnight emergency shelter for adults experiencing homelessness. Serving more than 40 guests each night, the shelter is seeking someone who brings energy, empathy, and reliability to a fast-paced environment.

No prior shelter experience? No problem. The organization is committed to training the right candidate who's ready to grow into the role.

Position Snapshot (*Please Review Qualifications)

• Location: Haverhill, MA

• Setting: Adult Emergency Shelter

• Hours: Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

• Initial Term: 13 weeks, with strong potential for renewal

• Hourly Pay: $20-$22, based on experience

What You'll Be Doing

• Support daily shelter operations for 40+ guests

• Handle guest referrals, conduct screenings, and manage intake

• Keep accurate shift documentation and incident records

• Monitor safety and respond to guest needs

• Coordinate volunteer meal services and ensure timely distribution

• Participate in the on-call rotation

What We're Looking For

• At least 1 year of direct care experience preferred (but not required)

• Excellent communication and attention to detail

• English fluency required; Spanish bilingual skills a plus

• Valid driver's license

• Must pass CORI and driving record checks

• Able to climb stairs and lift/move up to 30 lbs

• COVID-19 vaccination required
