A day in this role
At 7:30 A.M., you review the manufacturing schedule, pull the correct raw materials, and verify lot numbers. You weigh components on digital scales, stage drums and bags, and charge the mixer. With PPE on, you run high‑speed dispersers, monitor instruments, and follow batch work instructions step by step. Working with Quality Control, you fine‑tune viscosity or solids until the batch earns approval. You record results, keep your area clean to company standards, and partner with your supervisor to flag improvements. By 4:00 P.M., you’ve safely produced quality adhesive blends that head to customers around the world.
What you’ll do
- Stage and manually load raw materials into mixing vessels.
- Follow batch work instructions precisely to produce high‑quality products.
- Operate and monitor mixing equipment, high‑speed dispersers, and related instruments.
- Collaborate with QC to adjust batches until specifications are met and approved.
- Execute the production schedule; raise concerns and suggest improvements to the Supervisor.
- Maintain housekeeping to company standards; promptly report and address spills or hazards.
- Wear required PPE and follow all safety protocols.
- Perform additional related tasks as assigned.
Skills and abilities
- Comfort with basic math for measurements and conversions.
- Proficient using high‑speed dispersers and common material‑handling equipment.
- Accurate use of digital scales and process instrumentation.
Education and experience
- Experience in chemical manufacturing is preferred.
Physical requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting and standing.
- Ability to lift 50–60 pounds.
Career levels
- Batch Maker I : Can blend straightforward batches without supervision.
- Batch Maker II : 3+ years blending experience; capable of operating vacuum mixers.
- Batch Maker III : 5+ years blending experience; skilled with vacuum mixers and three‑roll mills.
Compensation, schedule, and location
- Location: Billerica, MA
- Schedule: 1st shift, Monday–Friday, 7:30 A.M.–4:00 P.M.
- Pay: $22.00–$26.00 per hour. Actual pay depends on skills/experience, time in role, business line, and geography.
- Bonus pay: 2025 incentive plan tied to safety, quality, and financial metrics; earn up to $1,520 annually, paid quarterly to eligible employees.
