Special Education Teacher (Full Time, 1.0, LTS)

Johnson Elementary School is looking to immediately fill a Special Education Teacher to meet the needs of our PreK-6 special education students. We are seeking a dedicated, student-centered educator who is passionate about providing high-quality instruction and believes that all students, including those on IEPs, can achieve at high levels.

This position will be posted full time for the upcoming 26-27 school year allowing for great potential for this LTS!

Position: Special Education Teacher

Schedule: Full-Time, 1.0

Start Date: immediately

Qualifications (Required):

• Massachusetts educator license in Moderate Disabilities (PreK–8)
• Confident testing and reporting skills aligned with the Massachusetts IEP process
• Strong knowledge of early literacy instruction aligned to Science of Reading
• Commitment to inclusive practices and supporting diverse learners
• Maintains high expectations for students with disabilities, using strength-based, research-aligned practices to support meaningful academic growth
• Professionally confident and collaborative to advocate for students with disabilities through high expectations, shared responsibility and thoughtful instructional decision making.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Wilson/Orton-Gillingham training or certification

• PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) and CASEL Competencies

• Strong collaboration and communication skills with families, colleagues, and support staff

Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction in alignment with IEP goals and district curriculum goals
• Teach specialized instruction and inclusionary co-teaching
• Write and implement IEP goals that reflect grade-level standards with appropriate modifications and supports
• Deliver evidence-based reading instruction
• Serve as a collaborative partner in advancing inclusive and co-teaching practices, supporting general education clasrooms while providing special education instruction.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to support student growth and success
• Demonstrate sensitivity and responsiveness to the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and needs of students and families, fostering a supportive and inclusive school community
• Contribute to a positive school culture that emphasizes high expectations and student success
• Possess a positive attitude and growth mindset
