Description:
YMCA of the USA is looking for an energetic, creative, and organized Out of School Time (OST) Coordinator to support its child care services program. Reporting to the Director of Child Care Services, the OST Coordinator is responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate programs for school-aged children. This role requires strong leadership, organizational abilities, and a commitment to ensuring children’s safety, growth, and overall well-being while aligning with YMCA Child Protection policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in youth development, child care, or education preferred.
- At least two years of relevant experience with children under 13, including one year in a supervisory or administrative position with decision-making responsibility.
- Strong written, verbal, and auditory communication skills to engage effectively with children and adults.
- Must demonstrate leadership, conflict resolution, and diplomacy skills.
- Ability to handle daily program administration, supervision, and activity coordination.
Essential Functions:
- Recruit, onboard, and support a diverse team of staff and volunteers; manage scheduling and performance evaluations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with staff, parents, caregivers, and community partners, ensuring clear and effective communication at all levels.
- Partner with schools and community stakeholders to support program goals and address student needs.
- Assess children’s development and complete required EEC progress reports bi-annually.
- Oversee existing program activities while also developing new initiatives to meet community needs; assist in marketing and program promotion.
- Foster a collaborative, team-oriented culture with a focus on positive supervision and communication.
- Organize engaging programs and family-focused events, offering continuous support to parents through formal and informal networks.
- Ensure compliance with all state licensing regulations and maintain records for re-licensing.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Director of Child Care Services.
