Executive Director, Institutional Advancement Non-Unit Professional position, 37.5 hours/week Campus Location: Danvers with some work in Lynn SALARY: Salary range $110,000.00 - $115,000.00. The offered salary will be commensurate with experience and education but will not exceed the stated range . GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Executive Director of Institutional Advancement provides visionary and mission-centered leadership for North Shore Community College's (NSCC) advancement initiatives. Partnering with the President's Office, the NSCC Foundation, donors, alumni and community stakeholders, this position is responsible for setting and advancing a holistic strategy for fundraising and resource development in order to expand opportunities for NSCC students. NSCC has established a solid philanthropic base and a Foundation portfolio of assets of approximately $17 million. The College seeks a collaborative leader who can build upon this foundation to grow revenue, diversify donor relationships, and deepen alumni engagement. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Strategic Development Leadership:
- Develop, plan, and evaluate a comprehensive annual and multi-year Institutional Advancement strategy and portfolio development aligned with College and Foundation priorities, including:
- major and leadership gifts,
- grants,
- annual fund and appeals,
- alumni relations, events, and stewardship
- Establish priorities, policies, and systems that position both the department and the Foundation for sustained, long-term growth.
- Advise the SEO, President, and Foundation Board on emerging opportunities in community college philanthropy and public/private partnerships.
- Provide strategy and oversight to grants development, ensuring pre- and post-award processes align with institutional priorities in collaboration with Institutional Research and academic leadership.
- Personally cultivate, solicit, and close major and transformational gifts that support scholarships, academic programs, capital needs, and student success.
- Expand and deepen relationships with existing donors while identifying new prospects among businesses, philanthropists, community organizations, and state and national foundations.
- Lead stewardship initiatives that reinforce trust, ethical practice, and donor intent within the NSCC Foundation.
- Establish accountability measures for alumni strategy, pipeline development, engagement programming, and giving integration.
- Work cross-functionally to strengthen alumni communications and events through the Foundation.
- Supervise a small advancement team of three development staff and one grants manager and oversee daily operations necessary to achieve fundraising outcomes.
- Collaborate with fiscal to oversee departmental budget and administrative services.
- Assess department staffing needs, develop appropriate skill sets, and deliver a return on investment.
- Working in collaboration with the SEO, President and other NSCC representatives, serve as a visible ambassador for NSCC and the NSCC Foundation in the North Shore cities and towns, engaging elected officials, community partners, media, and sector groups to advance philanthropic relationships.
- Build external partnerships that connect philanthropy with NSCC's educational and economic-mobility mission.
- Participate in a statewide Chief Advancement Officers group and represent NSCC on sector and system initiatives.
- Engage separately with collaborative forums and professional associations to keep NSCC connected to best practices and policy conversations.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and NSCC/Foundation gift-acceptance and ethical standards in partnership with Fiscal Services and Board leadership.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement across Institutional Advancement and the NSCC Foundation.
- Perform other related duties necessary to advance fundraising success and support NSCC's mission.
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in higher education or nonprofit advancement.
- Proven track record of achieving fundraising and grant development goals, with measurable results in annual revenue generation.
- Demonstrated expertise in fundraising management, including budget oversight, financial procurement, HR, and administration.
- Experience in grant development, data analysis, and performance measurement.
- Proficiency in CRM systems (preferably Blackbaud)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to engage donors, Board members, and community partners.
- Prior supervisory experience required, with demonstrated ability to set performance goals and hold staff accountable.
- Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.
