Manual/CNC Machine Operator - Precision Components
About the role
Our Agawam manufacturing company is hiring a Manual/CNC Machine Operator to produce small- to medium-sized components per program and product specifications. You’ll learn and run both manual equipment and CNC machinery, creating finished parts or precision components used in larger assemblies. Prior manufacturing experience and a strong willingness to learn are essential.
What you’ll do
- Run manual machines, including saws, mills, and lathes
- Position parts in exact locations using a range of fastening devices
- Operate hand-held, electric, and pneumatic tools
- Use lift equipment as required
- Measure parts with precision measuring tools
- Identify different material types used in the department and adjust equipment when needed
- Recognize worn tooling and change tooling on the machine as required
- Verify product accuracy through completed product checks or batch inspections
- Report defective materials, discrepancies, or process malfunctions—and any out-of-spec product—to the Department Lead
- Keep your work area and equipment clean and orderly while following all safety regulations
- Complete required paperwork, including in-process or carbon copy production sheets
Preferred qualifications
- Basic understanding of machining principles (CNC machine operations is a plus)
- Mechanical aptitude
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Basic computer skills for machine operation and data entry
- Problem-solving mindset and the ability to learn and adapt quickly
- Clear communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
Schedule & pay
• 1st and 2nd shifts available
• Pay: $18–$25/hr depending on experience
