Project Manager

Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and Wednesday, Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager.
DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The Masterpiece Unit at GBH has co-produced and presented the Emmy award-winning drama series Masterpiece on PBS since 1971. The Masterpiece Production team handles production, post-production, and video promotions for all platforms. This includes creating Masterpiece program masters and weekly promos for PBS, videos for digital and social media, show reels, trailers, awards submissions, press screeners, and event reels. The unit also provides technical and creative services to the Masterpiece unit and affiliated stakeholders.
JOB OVERVIEW
Under the supervision of the Senior Series Producer, the Project Manager is responsible for managing the workflows and projects among the 7 members of the production team to ensure that projects happen on time, on budget, and with the highest quality. Using frequent, team-building communication, and highly effective project management skills and tools, the Project Manager guides the team’s progress on each project by developing and organizing each project, breaking assignments into approachable tasks, prioritizing, establishing and tracking deadlines, removing roadblocks, and communicating out on progress to the Senior Series Producer, to other GBH units, and to PBS. Additionally, the Project Manager keeps a close eye on industry changes and policy changes at GBH and PBS, and then researches and analyzes their likely effect on MASTERPIECE production so that we can best address such changes, and then communicates clearly to the team and sets things in motion.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, develop, and manage each project for the production and post-production teams.
- Monitor progress, set deadlines, and adjust projects, and handles consequences, as needed.
- Problem-solve quickly and creatively.
- Communicate clearly and reassuringly to both our team and stakeholders/clients.
- Ensure budget is followed responsibly by all parties; work with service providers to limit costs.
- Evaluate project upon completion and share results/next steps with Senior Series Producer.
- Manage orderly system for all media traffic out of the unit.
- Manage delivery of programs and promotional videos to PBS and to all internal/external groups.
- Manage program closed captioning, DVS, outgoing tech eval, and delivery to PBS.
- Research, create, and update branding guidelines, cheat sheets, checklists, and trackers.
Project management and coordination.

- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- In-depth knowledge of PBS packaging forms software.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
- 3-5 years industry experience in pre-production, and production/post-production.
•Project planning, project coordination, and project management. •Comprehensive knowledge of Masterpiece/PBS workflow.
- Fluency in Microsoft Office software suite.

Salary Range
$66,000 - $84,000Compensation offered within this range is determined by skills, experience and internal pay equity.
