This is a full time position, Sunday-Wednesday 7a-530p, rotating holidays.
Angell West is looking to hire a Certified Veterinary Technician to help lead our Avian and Exotics Team!
The Avian Exotics (A/E) Lead Technician works collaboratively with the Avian Exotics veterinarians, other staff veterinarians and the entire Angell support staff to provide Angell clientele with excellent clinical and customer service. These services include providing technical support in the examination room with A/E outpatient and in-patient procedures, assisting with case management of A/E animals admitted to the hospital, running anesthesia, communications with clients and sometimes referring veterinarians. They assists the veterinarian in clinic, radiology, surgery and in other areas of the hospital.
The Lead technician must be able to interact with all staff members and clients in a positive and dynamic manner and provide technical advice following hospital policies and procedures. It requires knowledge specific to A/E clinical tests, procedures, protocols, medical terminology, animal handling, anesthesia, and math skills. The Lead technician should be able to communicate, orally and in writing, veterinary specific clinical information regarding services to our clients and other hospital staff.

COMPENSATION:
Certified Veterinary Technicians starting $33-$36/hr, VTS start at $43/hr, 5,000 sign on bonus!
Please note that candidates with additional experience or credentials may be eligible for compensation aligned with their qualifications.

MSPCA-Angell West, a non-profit 24-hour emergency and referral satellite hospital in the west suburbs of Boston, was opened in early 2014 by Angell Animal Medical Center. The hospital is over 20,000 square feet and is located 10 miles west of Boston in Waltham. Whether in Boston or in Waltham, our specialists regularly collaborate and plan treatments tailored to your pet’s emergency, surgical, and specialty needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
One must be a current Certified Veterinary Technician within the state of Massachusetts with a minimum of 5 years of Avian Exotics practice. Holding a VTS in Avian Exotics or on the VTS track is preferred!
