Job Summary As a Director of Emerging Technologies, you'll lead the identification, evaluation, implementation, and support of new technologies to drive innovation and strategic advantage, while also managing related projects and teams, and fostering a culture of technological exploration. Emerging Technologies would include technologies like Digital, API/Microservices, Cloud, DevSecOps, Intelligent Automation, and Contact Center technologies. You will be in the forefront of assessing and implementing technology innovation in support of business capabilities and roadmap. This role will play a key role in advancing the engineering culture within IT that will create reusable components, enterprise ready open source where feasible, enable faster speed to market and agile mindset. Another important aspect of this role will be to make sure the engineering culture permeates into our strategic partners who make up a large portion of the engineering team while making sure the partners deliver value and technology thought leadership and share risk with us. Job Description Key Responsibilities/Duties – what you will be doing (top five) :- Strategic Vision and Planning:
- Provide Technology Thought Leadership; Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for emerging technologies, aligning with the organization's overall goals.
- Identify and assess emerging technologies and trends relevant to the organization's business needs.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to stay informed about industry developments.
- Technology Evaluation and Implementation:
- Evaluate new technologies and tools, considering their potential benefits, risks, and costs.
- Lead the implementation of selected technologies, ensuring seamless integration into existing systems and processes.
- Develop and manage pilot programs to test new technologies and gather feedback.
- Project Management:
- Manage the lifecycle of emerging technology projects, from initial concept to deployment and ongoing support.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Lead and mentor the team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. Provide guidance and support to team members, helping them develop their skills and knowledge.
- Attract and retain top talent in the emerging technology space.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Communicate the value of emerging technologies to stakeholders, both internally and externally.
- Collaborate with other departments and teams to identify opportunities for technology-driven solutions.
- Represent the organization at industry events and conferences.
- Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with emerging technologies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Develop and maintain robust security measures.
- Other duties and projects assigned.
- Required: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
- Preferred: Master's degree
- Required: 10-15 years of experience in technology leadership roles, with a strong track record of delivering complex technology projects. Healthcare industry experience will be a plus
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and data analytics.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, build consensus, and drive results.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Project Management Skills: Strong project management skills, with experience in planning, executing, and managing complex projects.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and solve complex problems, think strategically, and make sound decisions.
- Business Acumen: Understanding business principles and how technology can be used to drive business value.
- Must be able to work under normal office conditions and work from home as required.
- Work may require simultaneous use of a telephone/headset and PC/keyboard and sitting for extended durations.
