Business administrator - building / department

The Southborough Building Department seeks qualified applicants for a full-time Business Administrator which is a non-union position that reports to the Building Commissioner. Position requires knowledge of Mass. General Laws, related municipal policies, Building/Zoning codes and office operations.

Duties include assisting the public with inquiries, coordinating communication between inspectors, contractors, property owners, and other municipal departments; ensuring department workflows align with government regulations; providing guidance on permitting, zoning, and code enforcement procedures; assisting with complaint resolution in a tactful manner; supporting legal and regulatory proceedings by organizing documentation & coordinating with municipal legal counsel and monitoring fee collection(s). Assuring superb customer service is paramount.

Job requirements: Problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; excellent technology skills demonstrating knowledge of all MS Office programs and online permitting platforms. Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred with three to five (3-5) years of progressive administrative experience, or a related field. Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be reviewed.

Compensation: Current pay range $27.32-$36.05/hour. Hiring range: $27.32-$31.38/hour.
