Special Education Teacher
Location: Institutional Setting –Lowell, Massachusetts
Schedule: Monday–Friday School hours
Hours: 8 Hours/Day 7:30 AM -3:30 PM
Pay: $65-70 per hour | Benefits Eligible

Arbor Associates is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction and strategy support to students in secure settings. This role is ideal for educators passionate about equity, trauma-sensitive teaching, and helping high-risk youth reach their potential.
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver engaging, skills-based lessons aligned with student IEPs.
- Provide differentiated instruction, accommodations, and modifications to meet diverse learning needs.
- Build culturally responsive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environments.
- Collaborate with colleagues, host agency staff, and families to support student growth.
- Develop and track IEP goals, progress notes, and transition planning activities.
- Implement social-emotional learning strategies and support positive behavior.
- Participate in professional development, team meetings, and statewide testing.
- Maintain accurate student records, reports, and data to drive improvement.
Job Requirements
What We’re Looking For:
- Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
- Massachusetts Teacher Licensure in Mild-to-Moderate Disabilities (5–12) - Willing to accept a waiver or emergency license if in progress
- Commitment to working with high-risk youth and promoting social justice
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Reliable transportation to meet travel needs
- Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Education or related field
- Multilingual and/or multicultural experience
Work Environment:
- Primarily an indoor classroom in a secure residential setting, with occasional outdoor or off-site activities.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and stand and sit without assistance.
- Requires adaptability in a fast-paced environment where priorities may shift.
- Some evening events and occasional travel across the state.
