We are seeking a Global Environmental, Health & Safety Lead in our Tyngsboro, MA office. In this role, you will champion a strong culture of safety, support our safety-first mindset, and lead our HSE programs across our global operations, including sites in the US, Australia, Canada, Chile, and Brazil.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with senior leadership to develop HSE initiatives that support our company’s vision and core values including ensuring safe and compliant operations globally
• Act as the subject-matter expert for HSE-related regulatory requirements
• Lead regular safety committee meetings
• Deliver educational safety information across the company in the form of formal trainings, micro-learnings, or written communications
• Review, maintain, update, or create and implement written HSE programs
• Collaborate closely with laboratory supervisors and technicians to perform or review risk assessments on materials to be tested to identify the hazards and select appropriate controls to minimize risk to our employees
• Perform periodic inspections of safety-related equipment and audits of HSE programs
• Create an environment of continuous improvement by identifying unique controls for hazards, finding practical solutions to addressing unsafe acts or conditions and providing detailed root cause analysis and corrective action recommendations for close calls, incidents and accidents
• Coordinate facilities maintenance, repairs, and improvement projects to ensure a safe, compliant and operationally efficient work environment
• Occasional domestic and international travel will be required as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or advanced degree in Industrial Hygiene, Health & Safety or related field.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience with implementing and sustaining HSE initiatives
• CIH, CSP, or other safety-related professional certification preferred
• Experience performing risk assessments of laboratory-scale work involving hazardous chemicals
• Managing a respiratory protection program a plus
• Background in performing personal and area monitoring for airborne contaminates a plus
• Familiarity with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals, including interpreting hazard classifications and selecting label elements
• Knowledge with and the ability to aid employee’s compliance typically by provided awareness level training with most general industry safety programs such as the control of hazardous energies; work at heights; confined space entry; machine guarding; etc.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
