Overview of Position
We are seeking an LICSW with experience providing supervision to Master of Social Work interns.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
LICSW Supervisor for social work intern in Journey to Safety: September 8, 2025 – early May 2026
The time commitment is an average of 1.5 hours per week. While some familiarity with the dynamics of domestic abuse is helpful, there is no need for the clinician to have deep experience with domestic abuse. A brief training will be provided by Journey to Safety and the intern will be participating in a standard 40-hour DV training.
Responsibilities include:
- Meeting with the intern for one hour per week in collaboration with the Senior Bilingual Domestic Abuse Advocate.
- Reviewing and providing feedback on process recordings.
- Collaborating with Senior Bilingual Domestic Abuse Advocate (SBDAA) on creating and evaluating the intern’s learning contract throughout the academic year.
- Joining a meeting with the field placement supervisor at the beginning, middle and end of the year,
The one-hour weekly supervision happens jointly with the SBDAA, who provides any programmatic or DV specific context that is needed in real time during supervision sessions. The SBDAA has three+ years of experience in this collaborative supervision model having worked closely with the previous LICSW clinical supervisor for Journey to Safety.
Knowledge, Experience, and Skills
Education/Experience Requirements:
- MSW with LICSW
- 1-3 years’ experience supervising MSW interns
Skills and Competencies:
- Knowledge in clinical training and mentoring.
- Experience commenting on student process recordings, performing student evaluations and MSW program field procedures.
- Experience working with survivors of domestic abuse a plus.
- Training about domestic abuse preferred.
About the Program
Journey to Safety is the domestic abuse program of JF&CS and provides free and confidential comprehensive domestic abuse bilingual (English/Russian) services in to all who come to us for help, irrespective of background, gender, religion, or ethnicity. Services include counseling, safety planning, court accompaniment, support groups, teen dating abuse prevention programs, and assistance with finding housing, job training, employment, legal services, and appropriate public benefits. Additionally, Journey to Safety has a long history of mentoring MSW interns from around the Greater Boston area and is deeply committed to supporting interns to gain knowledge and skills to identify domestic abuse and support survivors with myriad needs.
