About the Role:
Aquila Technology is seeking a Systems Administrator to join our team in supporting one of the country’s premier defense research organizations. This role will be to help support the IT demands of the team including working directly with the team members to solve problems, maintaining the teams IT infrastructure including some classified systems, and supporting a variety of programs that are not supported by the central IT organization. This position is a combination of Linux Systems Administration and Windows Systems Administration. The role will be approximately 65% Linux and 35% Windows. Candidates should have significant Linux experience. This role needs a well rounded Systems Administrator.
Must Have
- Certification: CompTIA Security+ Certification
- Degree Level: Bachelor's Degree
- 5 years - Desktop and Server Support (installation, patching, auditing, configuration, security, AD, etc.)
- 5 years - Operating System (OS) platforms (Linux, Mac, Windows)
- 5 years - Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain desktop and server-grade hardware
- 5 years - Networking Applications and Protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, DHCP, SSH, FTP and
- 5 years - Powershell and Ansible (or other programming languages)
- 5 years - Scripting Languages: Perl, Python, Shell Scripting, Powershell.
- 5 years - Diagnose and Troubleshoot Issues
- 5 years - Linux system administration (RedHat + Ubuntu)
- 5 years - MS Active Directory, LDAP
- 5 years - Strong Backup Experience and Proven Ability to Protect Mission Critical Data
- 5 years - Systems Administration
- 5 years - Virtualization Technologies (VMware, including ESXi and VCenter configuration)

The individual will be part of a team who provide installation, configuration, maintenance, repair, and upgrades of computer workstations, servers, and network infrastructure. The individual will also manage and maintain the Group’s stock of computer/IT supplies and spares. The individual will also be responsible for providing direct-end user support in a mixed OS environment which includes imaging, software installs, printer maintenance and general troubleshooting. The individual’s responsibilities include off-loading and expediting the Group’s support requests from the Information Services helpdesk. The individual will also be responsible for complying with the security policies set forth by the Information Security Services Department.
- Domains: IT Infrastructure, networking, system architecture design, system configuration management, system troubleshooting and database management.
- Responsible for management, administration, and support of all MIT/LL IT systems and infrastructure for the group
- Responsible for configuring and maintaining (physical and virtual) servers and researcher workstations in a secure (RMF/CMMC), compliant and documented manner.
- Support additional technologies as they are adopted by the Laboratory.
- Responsible for vulnerability remediation on secure and unclassified Laboratory systems. Addressing Cat 1, 2, 3 issues in a timely manner
- Recognizing and troubleshooting issues with developer’s machines as they occur across a variety of Operating Systems. Windows, Linux, Solaris, etc.
- Perform all related duties as assigned.
Required Technical Skills:
- Operating Systems: Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu Linux, Mac OSX, Windows, VMware/ESX
- Hardware: Dell, Juniper switches
- Software/applications: Active Directory, LDAP, Kerberos, Splunk, SQL, VMware (vCenter/ESXI/vSAN), Github, Gitlab, NoMachine, RDP, Yum/DNF/RPM
- Networking applications and protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, SSH, FTP, DHCP and
- Programming Languages: Python, Ansible, Shell Scripting, PowerShell.
- Skilled at centralized authentication (SSSD, IDM, Active Directory) including centralized sudo administration via IDM and smart card & GSSAPI support
- CompTIA Security+ - they will review a candidate without a current Security+ certificate as long as the person is willing to obtain one within the first 6 months at their own expense or the expense of the supplier.

Non-Technical Skills:
- Candidates must be, team oriented, enthusiastic, innovative and motivated self-starters able to work independently, or with a group, to achieve program requirements.
- Candidates must possess strong oral and written communications skills, and must be able to present findings/results to internal and external organizations.
- It is desirable that higher level candidates within this category possess management or supervisory experience.
- Adhere to Laboratory policies and procedures
Education Requirements:
- Degree in one of the following disciplines: Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, or a related technical discipline or comparable experience.

Work Location: Candidate should expect to be onsite 5 days/wk
Clearance Level: Interim clearance acceptable for start
