Senior Tax Accountant

The Senior Tax Accountant will report directly to the Director of Tax Services (“Director”) and operate under their supervision. This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., from May through December, with additional hours as necessary to support timely delivery of tax accounting services. From January through April, extended hours including weekends and holidays are routinely required to facilitate the prompt processing of tax returns.

In this role, the Senior Tax Accountant is accountable for the precise preparation and timely submission of fiduciary, charitable, partnership, and personal tax returns, with a particular focus on complex filings. The position also provides critical backup support for the Director of Tax Services.

Responsibilities:

· Prepare accurate and timely fiduciary, gift tax, foundation, partnership, and personal tax returns, prioritizing complex cases and resolving intricate tax issues.

· Collaborate closely with the Director in both supportive and cooperative capacities.

· Serve as a resource for Junior Tax Accountants.

· Provide backup coverage during the Director’s absence.

· Maintain direct communication with departmental clients as authorized and review work completed by other Tax Accountants, as assigned.

· Offer expert tax guidance to the Director, fellow Tax Accountants, and departmental clients, including Private Client Department partners, as requested.

· Participate in new hire interviews and contribute feedback during performance evaluations for junior Tax Accountants and tax accounting support staff.

· Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Taxation preferred.

· Minimum of 5 years’ experience preparing fiduciary, charitable, partnership, and personal tax returns, with comprehensive experience in all aspects of tax preparation, analysis, and problem resolution.

· Previous tax accounting experience within a mid-sized or larger professional environment is preferred.

· Capable of independently managing highly complex tax preparations with minimal oversight.

· Proficiency with ProSystem-fx and Onesource Trust Tax software.

Additional Skills/Experience:

· Advanced knowledge of relevant tax codes and updates.

· Strong proficiency with requisite tax preparation hardware and software.

· Demonstrated ability to work independently, initiate and complete projects, and provide follow-through.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with tact, diplomacy, and the capacity to interact effectively with staff, attorneys, and maintain strict confidentiality.

· Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize assignments, adhere to schedules, and perform effectively under pressure.

· High attention to detail, adaptability, and adherence to confidentiality in all office matters.
