A successful candidate for our Technician Manager position will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and will possess the following skills: Extensive knowledge on preventative care topics such as vaccines and parasite protection, Drug calculation, phlebotomy/venipuncture, IV catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, surgical assistance, strong client communication and education, knowledge of all routinely used medications, preventatives and vaccines, monitoring of sedated patients and basic wound care. Knowledge of Fear Free practices is a plus, but training will be provided if needed.
The Veterinary Technician Manager will oversee the daily operations of veterinary technicians during outpatient appointments, emergencies, and hospitalizations. This role focuses on delivering technical excellence, enhancing workflow efficiency, and increasing daily capacity for patients and clients. The manager will also handle scheduling, inventory management, and ensure adherence to clinic protocols.
Key Responsibilities:Direct and manage the activities of veterinary technicians to ensure high standards of patient care.
Oversee appointment scheduling, workflow efficiency, and technical staff utilization.
Manage assistant and technician shift schedules, clinic inventory, and ordering of supplies.
Conduct patient assessments, anesthesia, procedures, and treatments.
Communicate effectively with doctors, staff, and clients to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Lead training and development of the technical team to enhance proficiency and expertise.
Organize and manage daily workflow, including Smartflow for hospitalizations and treatments.
Conduct client communications, manage medical records, and ensure adherence to BVC protocols.
Foster a positive work environment and provide direction and motivation to co-workers.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in the veterinary field.
Minimum 4 years of veterinary experience in a clinical setting.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in using computer systems and software relevant to veterinary practice.
Ability to work collaboratively across various teams and with diverse clients.
Strong decision-making, organizational, and leadership skills.
