General Manager - Inhalation - Chelsea, MA
Reporting to the VP Operations, Respiratory, Ophthalmic & Analytical the General Manager has overall responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the Chelsea, MA (Greater Boston) site.
The Chelsea, MA facility is Catalent’s global Center of Excellence for spray dry dispersion and Dry Powder Inhaler (DPI) capsule manufacture and packaging. The site features inhaled powder spray drying, as well as multiple commercial-scale lines for capsule filling and blister packaging. The Role- Manage safety, quality, service, and cost associated with an entire production facility and ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental policies and regulations.
- Drive improvements within the site to achieve performance objectives
- Build talent and capabilities across the site to ensure the current and future health of the site
- Direct the development, growth and ongoing profitability of the site.
- Ensure that the site is properly staffed from an R&D standpoint with the appropriate capabilities to support the business strategies and P&L/Balance Sheet objectives (revenue, gross margin, EBIT, EBITDA, working capital, OpEx cost savings, procurement cost savings, IBT cost savings, cost conversion productivity, inventory levels).
- Work with the VP, Business Development - Inhalation in the development of the annual revenue plan for the site and to develop and implement an effective communication strategy to present the technologies and services to customers.
- Develop and implement a review and reporting process for the site to evaluate progress against business and budget objectives, and to discuss and decide future priorities and resources.
- Build extensive relationships with senior R&D executives of our pharmaceutical customers.
- Ensure the development of appropriate processes for successful and rapid technology transfers to Catalent or customer manufacturing operations.
- Ensure site compliance with CGMP standards and other regulatory requirements.
- Drive a culture of Operational Excellence at the site.
- Establish and propose priorities for future investments to capitalize on new product development service opportunities.
- Role must be located at the Chelsea, MA (Greater Boston) site and relocation assistance available
- Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other related technical discipline
- 15 plus years of broad and progressive management experience with a top tier pharmaceutical or contract services (CDMO, CMO) company required
- Inhalation knowledge and experience (respiratory, inhalers, spray dry dispersion, Dry Powder Inhaler (DPI) capsule manufacture, inhaled powder spray drying) is strongly preferred
- Must have at least 10 years of manufacturing experience, preferably 5 years as a plant manager.
- Experience managing a full P&L is required
- Must be familiar with chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing operations and techniques.
- Must have a working knowledge of factors which impact standard production cost.
- Must have the ability to direct manpower resources to resolve problems which rise in all plant departments.
- Should understand corporate accounting methods and practices.
- Should have a working knowledge of continuous improvement, utilizing such techniques as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
The anticipated Salary for this position in Massachusetts is $260,000.00 - $315,000.00. The final Salary offered to a successful candidate may vary, and will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, skillset, education, business needs, etc. Catalent is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states
