Service Operations Specialist – Contract Role

Location: Greater Boston, MA (travel between Waltham, Watertown, and surrounding areas)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 1st shift (7:00 or 8:00 AM start, depending on facility)

Compensation: $28 per hour + mileage reimbursement

Contract Duration: September 2025 – November 2025

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Service Operations Specialist to support multiple customer sites in the Greater Boston area. This is an onsite, travel-based role requiring reliable transportation, strong customer service skills, and experience in inventory, procurement, or logistics operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Travel between customer sites to support onsite operations and service needs.
• Perform inventory management, procurement coordination, and logistics support.
• Collaborate with management and site contacts to complete projects, SOPs, training, and service improvements.
• Serve as the primary point of contact with facility leaders, purchasing managers, and lab personnel.
• Utilize ERP and inventory systems (e.g., SAP, RF scanners, or similar) to manage orders, invoices, credits, and reporting.
• Provide customer service support, including issue resolution, reporting, and system updates.
• Train site associates on service offerings and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Monitor and maintain quality metrics, KPIs, and service efficiency programs.
• Complete expense reporting and assist with budget-related tasks.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 3–5 years’ experience in inventory control, procurement, shipping/receiving, or related operations.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation (travel up to 50% of the time within MA).
• Strong computer skills; SAP/ERP and Microsoft Office proficiency required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Forklift certification, CDL, and safety training (OSHA/IATA/DOT/IMDG) are pluses.
• Must be flexible, proactive, and comfortable working independently across multiple sites.

Requirements

• Ability to pass background checks and comply with all customer site requirements.
• Comfortable with frequent travel between sites.
• Able to stand, walk, bend, and carry up to 50 lbs. as needed.
• Steel-toe safety shoes required (all other PPE provided).
