Product Manager - Carpentry
PRODUCT MANAGER
POSITION TYPE: Full-time
WHO WE ARE:
BirchBarn Designs is a homegrown, custom woodworking shop with an established retail line of products for the home - Chop, Serve, Drink, Live - as well as a custom woodworking business that designs and builds wood countertops, butcher block island tops, dining tables and other wood elements. We are a no stain shop. We love the way wood looks all on its own.
Located inside a 3000-sq. ft. space within a growing artisan guild in the Greenbush neighborhood of Scituate, BirchBarn has a loyal and growing client-base across greater Boston including such clients like The Boston Red Sox and Rockland Trust, and a growing client roster of architects, designers, builders and homeowners.
WHO WE NEED:
We're looking to build on our hard-earned momentum with the addition of a Product Manager. Our ideal candidate is a skillful, creative, and knowledgeable carpenter who has a stellar understanding of natural hardwoods, including their characteristics and properties. We also expect this candidate to have skilled experience using workshop equipment and a willingness to learn and refine production processes.
We have created detailed Product Build Sheets for our entire retail line, and you will receive training on our step-by-step manufacturing processes and techniques. The goal for this role is to train and work alongside the founder and head carpenter, with an end-goal being independence and responsibility thereafter. The product manager will eventually manage a team to oversee production in the workshop, while the founder directs his energies away from the retail line and towards custom projects.
We’ve developed a culture at BirchBarn that we hope translates to a creative, hard-working and rewarding work environment. The music is always cranking and, during the warmer months, we love to work with the shop doors open to feel like we are working outside. With a few core events held here throughout the year, the Product Manager will have an opportunity to network with clients and fans of the brand, as we highly value being an active member of the community that has embraced us.
