Project Manager Fellowship (D.O.W. Skillbridge)
Please note: In order to be eligible for this Fellowship, you must be an active-duty service member and:
- Have 180 days of service or fewer remaining prior to your date of discharge and you have at least 180 continuous days of active service.
- Obtain approval from your unit commander.
- Agree that participation in SkillBridge can be terminated at any time by the service if mission requirements dictate.
- Be willing and able to be on campus 2 days per week.

The Harvard University DoW SkillBridge Project Manager Fellowship is designed to equip service members with the tools, skills, and confidence needed to succeed as in-house Project Managers across a range of functional areas, including Information Technology, Human Resources, Finance, Construction and Engineering, Marketing, Communications, Healthcare, Administration & Operations, and more based on each Fellow’s background. Fellows receive hands-on, on-the-job training in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, supported by professional training sessions, virtual learning opportunities, and targeted professional development. Each Fellow is paired with an experienced Project Manager who serves as a mentor, providing ongoing guidance, coaching, and feedback throughout the fellowship. In this role, Fellows independently manage projects within a specific unit or department, oversee small projects or major components of larger initiatives, and collaborate across functions, gaining practical experience, mentorship, and continuous support to ensure their success.
Primary Responsibilities:
Independently manage a broad range of project(s) for assigned client groups or units. Responsible for the administration, enhancement, and continuous improvement of programs in alignment with organizational goals.
- Administer and manage project activities in accordance with established goals and schedules.
- Maintain and enhance existing projects; collaborate with clients to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve operational issues.
- Identify issues and possible resolutions and ensure follow-up on key project tasks.
- Recommend options to improve existing projects and optimize resources.
- Provide guidance on best practices and standards.
- Contribute to project planning to design and implement new programs.
- Provide project-related metrics and reports to support decision-making.
- Draft communications, reports, and presentations as needed.
- May function as a subject matter expert or project lead.
- Ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
Qualifications & Key Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Initiative in seeking opportunities for project optimization and improvement.
- Capacity to train and support others within the organization.

Program Eligibility Requirements:
To participate in Harvard’s DoW SkillBridge Fellowship program, you must meet the minimum eligibility requirements as listed on the DoW SkillBridge FAQ website.
In addition to these requirements, you must also commit to:
- Participation in the entire 120-day Harvard SkillBridge Fellowship duration (unless branch and rank prevent you to do so).
- A hybrid work format, with some work performed on-site and some performed remotely
