Job Summary

We are a small, high-end fine gardening and landscape company rooted in ecological stewardship, craftsmanship, and long-term client relationships. Our work blends thoughtful design, horticultural excellence, and environmental sensitivity to create landscapes that feel timeless, intentional, and alive.

We are seeking an experienced Lead Landscape Designer to collaborate with our team and guide the design vision for select residential projects. This role is ideal for a self-motivated designer who values quality over quantity and enjoys working closely with a small, hands-on business.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design process for residential landscape projects, from concept through installation support
  • Create thoughtful, site-specific designs with a strong emphasis on ecology, plant health, and longevity
  • Develop planting plans, layouts, and design documents appropriate for fine gardening installations
  • Collaborate closely with the owner and field team to ensure designs are practical, buildable, and executed with care
  • Communicate clearly with clients, translating their vision into cohesive, elevated outdoor spaces
  • Provide guidance on plant selection, materials, and sustainable practices
  • Develop detailed landscape designs using software such as SketchUp, AutoCAD, Vectorworks, Lumion.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in landscape design, preferably in high-end residential or fine gardening work
  • Strong plant knowledge and horticultural expertise
  • Strong knowledge of horticulture principles, landscaping techniques, hardscape construction, irrigation systems, and land surveying.
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Creative Suite for rendering and presentation purposes.
  • Familiarity with construction estimating and project management methodologies.
  • Ability to utilize CAD, SketchUp, Vectorwork or other design software effectively for drafting detailed plans and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices that promote environmental responsibility.
  • Excellent communication skills for client consultations and team collaboration.
  • Demonstrated interest in ecological, sustainable, or environmentally sensitive design
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating within a small team
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
