Affordable Housing Property Manager (Bilingual Required)
Dorchester, MA Area
Salary: $80,000-$85,000
Join a Mission-Driven Housing Organization Making a Difference in the CommunityWe are seeking an experienced, resident-focused, and bilingual Property Manager to oversee the daily operations of a large affordable housing community in the Dorchester area. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven multifamily professional who is passionate about resident satisfaction, operational excellence, and community impact.
The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with experience managing affordable, conventional, or mixed-income housing communities and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse resident population. Fluency in both English and Spanish is required.
Position SummaryThe Property Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the community, including property operations, resident relations, occupancy, compliance, financial performance, maintenance oversight, and staff leadership. This individual will work closely with residents, vendors, and onsite team members to maintain a high-quality living environment while achieving operational and financial goals.
Key Responsibilities Property Operations- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the community.
- Ensure the property is maintained to company standards.
- Conduct routine property inspections and identify areas for improvement.
- Partner with maintenance staff and vendors to ensure timely completion of work orders and projects.
- Maintain the overall appearance, safety, and curb appeal of the community.
- Build strong relationships with residents and community stakeholders.
- Address resident concerns and resolve issues professionally and efficiently.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and foster resident satisfaction.
- Support resident retention and community engagement initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with both English-speaking and Spanish-speaking residents.
- Manage property budgets and financial performance.
- Monitor expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Oversee rent collections and delinquency management.
- Review financial reports and ensure achievement of property goals.
- Support occupancy and resident retention efforts.
- Oversee application processing, move-ins, renewals, and move-outs.
- Ensure accurate resident records and documentation are maintained.
- Assist with marketing and outreach initiatives as needed.
- Ensure compliance with Fair Housing guidelines and affordable housing regulations.
- Prepare for audits, inspections, and agency reviews.
- Maintain accurate reporting and resident files.
- Stay informed of regulatory and industry changes.
- Supervise and develop onsite staff.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and performance management.
- Partner with regional leadership to execute operational objectives.
- Must be fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
- 4+ years of multifamily property management experience.
- Strong understanding of property operations, leasing, and resident relations.
- Experience managing budgets, collections, and financial reporting.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency with property management software.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Affordable housing, LIHTC, Section 8, HUD, or tax credit experience.
- Experience supervising onsite teams.
- Knowledge of maintenance operations and capital improvement projects.
- COS, CPO, CAM, ARM, or other industry certifications.
