Position Summary:

Prova Inc. is seeking an Entry-Level Flavor Lab Technician to support our Flavor Lab and assist in flavor creation efforts.

Focused on supporting the lab, preparing materials, maintaining inventory, and assisting with basic formulation and sensory evaluation. This is a learning and support role. This position is ideal for individuals beginning their career in the flavor industry and offers exposure to the full scope of lab processes.

Title: Flavor Lab Technician- Temporary Position with the Possibility to Transition to Full Time

Reports to: Certified Flavorist

Employment Type: Full Time, Temporary to Permanent Placement

Anticipated Schedule: M-F 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Onsite

Location: On-site in our Beverly, MA office.

Scope: Multi- departmental support

Team Size: N/A

Travel: Potentially up 5% travel is required, domestic and

international.

Compensation:

The Base salary range of $25-$27 per hour is based on years of experience. This compensation range reflects the company’s expectations for this position at the time of posting. Actual pay will be determined based on factors such as relevant experience, alignment with role responsibilities, education, demonstrated skills, and performance.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities – Flavor Technician

  • Compound formulas to make and replenish stock as needed.
  • Assist with weighing, dosing, and blending raw materials for flavor creation.
  • Prepare flavors for evaluation following formulas developed by the Flavorist.
  • Participate in flavor evaluations and sensory testing under guidance.
  • Set up materials for evaluation, collaboratively with the team.
  • Assist in applying flavors to food products when assigned.
  • Take and register specifications data for new formulations.
  • Organize and maintain laboratory inventory of raw materials, ensuring proper storage and shelf-life management.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment in compliance with company policies and Good Laboratory Practices.

Secondary Responsibilities (under supervision):

  • Support research and development of new flavors and procurement initiatives.
  • Document formulas and maintain records in company database software.
  • Maintain database records of customer responses and statistical analyses.

Required Skills / Qualifications:

  • Minimum of High School degree.
  • Sensory awareness and evaluation skills (taste and smell).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data entry.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

Preferred / Nice to Have:

  • Experience in the food, beverage or flavor industry.
  • Coursework or background in chemistry, biochemistry, or food science is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices, particularly accurate weighing and measurement techniques.
