Job Summary: Provides indirect resident care activities under the direction of a licensed Nurse. Assists residents with transportation, care of belongings, and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment for an assigned unit or group of residents.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in the preparation of rooms and equipment for admission of residents.
Assists in and accompanies residents in the admission, transfer and discharge procedures, including inventory and marking of resident belongings.
Provides morning services, which includes: making beds, changing bed linen, filling water pitchers, cleaning over bed table and bedside stand, straightening room, closet, bathroom and other general services as necessary throughout the day.
Provides evening care which includes freshening linen, cleaning over bed tables, straightening room, closet and bathroom and other general room services as needed.
Provides 1:1 Supervision to assigned residents for companionship
Immediately reports any accidents or incidents observed.
Immediately reports any complaints of pain or changes in resident condition or behavior to the Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse.
Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
Makes rounds prior to leaving to ensure the unit is left in good condition.
Adheres to policies and procedures of the facility and the Nursing Department.
Participates in socialization activities on the unit; assist residents by reading aloud, letter writing and other personalized services as directed.
Ensures that clothing is properly stored in bedside stand or on hangers in closet.
Checks unit for adequate linen. Folds neatly and arranges linen in linen closet. Cleans linen cart. Provides clean linen and clothing. Makes beds.
Treats residents and their families with respect and dignity.
Transports residents to other areas of the facility, as directed.
Prepares residents for meals; serves and removes food trays as assigned.
Distributes drinking water and other nourishments to residents as assigned.
