Overview

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is seeking a New Hire Orientation (NHO) Program Manager to lead and deliver our enterprise NHO experience. This role owns the full lifecycle of New Hire Orientation, from strategy and content design to live facilitation, operational execution, and continuous improvement.

This is a highly operational and highly visible role. The NHO Program Manager serves as a central presence during orientation experiences, setting the tone for each new hire’s introduction to the Institute.

The NHO Program Manager will:

Lead and facilitate live virtual and in-person NHO experiences
Manage end-to-end logistics for large new hire cohorts
Curate, develop, and continuously refine orientation content to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with Dana-Farber’s mission and brand
Coordinate and coach presenters to deliver a cohesive, high-quality experience
Partner across departments to support a smooth transition from enterprise NHO into role-specific and department-specific experiences
Establish quality standards and drive ongoing program enhancement
Own measurement, feedback analysis, and data-informed improvements

The ideal candidate is energized by facilitating live programs, engaging diverse audiences, coordinating complex logistics, and raising the standard of experience delivery over time. This individual combines strong program management capability with professional presence, sound judgment, and the ability to lead in front of large groups with confidence and warmth.

This role blends program leadership, live facilitation, stakeholder partnership, content stewardship, and operational excellence in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment.

The Program Manager II is responsible for the execution and management of complex programs that support departmental and cross-departmental initiatives. This role involves managing multiple projects, coordinating resources, and ensuring program objectives are met. The Program Manager will engage with stakeholders to facilitate program success and drive continuous improvement. Focuses on aligning projects within the program to achieve strategic goals.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Scope and Complexity: Manage moderately complex programs that span multiple departments, coordinating related projects to support cross-departmental initiatives.
  • Decision Making: Make informed decisions about resource allocation and project timelines, with some autonomy in resolving operational challenges.
  • Stakeholder Interaction and Communication: Engage with a broader range of stakeholders, including department heads and project leads, to gather requirements and provide updates.
  • Program Management: Plan and manage program activities, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, and efficient use of resources.
  • Quality Assurance and Performance Monitoring: Track program progress and performance metrics, report findings to stakeholders and recommend improvements.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate program documentation and ensure compliance with institutional policies and procedures.
  • Risk Management : Identify potential risks to program success and implement mitigation strategies to address them.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business administration, management, healthcare, or a related field required.
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience with progressively increasing responsibility of which at least two (2) years must be in program management OR comparable roles required.
  • Project or Program Management Professional certification (PgMP, PMP, etc.) preferred.

License/Certification/Registration Required: None

Pay Transparency Statement

The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications.

For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
