Job Description

As a Press Set Up Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating various manual, pneumatic, electric, or hydraulic presses. Your role will involve cutting, shaping, and forming metal, plastic, or other materials used in manufacturing operations to specific dimensions as specified by blueprints, CAD drawings, or other documented specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Install die sets into various types of presses.
  • Adjust components and set stops on precision forming equipment.
  • Install, align, and secure holding fixtures and dies to press beds using gauges, templates, shims, and hand tools.
  • Measure and inspect workpieces for quality and conformance to acceptable part geometry and customer specifications using various measuring equipment such as height gauges, calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, etc.
  • Document specific set-up notes and diagrams to ensure process repeatability.
  • Start press and observe operation to detect possible misalignment or malfunction and make any necessary changes/adjustments.
  • Perform general maintenance and lubrication of presses to keep equipment operating correctly.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to read blueprints/CAD drawings.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Skilled in the use of basic hand tools.
  • Strong time management with attention to detail.
  • Good dexterity.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.50/hr.
