Senior User Experience Researcher

Whoop
Boston, MA

Job Description

Job Description

At WHOOP, we’re on a mission to unlock human performance and healthspan. WHOOP empowers members to perform at a higher level through a deeper understanding of their bodies, behaviors, and daily lives.

WHOOP is hiring a Senior User Experience Researcher to join WHOOP Labs in Boston and support the Healthcare Product team. In this role, you will lead strategic research initiatives that help shape the future of healthcare experiences at WHOOP, enabling members to better understand their health data and take meaningful action toward improved outcomes.

Beyond conducting high-impact research, you will play a critical role in helping teams translate insights into decisions. Working closely with Product Design, Product Management, Clinical, Regulatory, and Machine Learning Research partners, you will facilitate workshops, guide cross-functional alignment, and ensure research findings drive meaningful action. We are looking for a researcher who combines deep healthcare curiosity with exceptional communication and facilitation skills, helping elevate how research is understood, applied, and operationalized across WHOOP.

This role is expected to work in-person from WHOOP HQ in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead end-to-end user research across the product development lifecycle, from opportunity identification and study design through analysis, synthesis, and strategic recommendations.
  • Translate complex business, product, and healthcare questions into actionable research plans using appropriate qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
  • Partner closely with Product, Design, Data Science, Clinical, Regulatory, and Engineering teams to inform product strategy and deliver member-centered healthcare experiences.
  • Synthesize research findings into compelling insights, frameworks, and narratives that drive alignment, influence strategic decisions, and create clear paths to action.
  • Plan and manage multiple concurrent research initiatives, ensuring stakeholder alignment, timely execution, and high-quality deliverables.
  • Design and facilitate workshops, synthesis sessions, and stakeholder discussions that transform research findings into aligned decisions, actionable roadmaps, and member-centered outcomes.
  • Champion the voice of the member by establishing research best practices, improving research operations, and fostering a customer-centered decision-making culture across WHOOP.
  • Mentor researchers and cross-functional partners in mixed-methods research approaches, helping elevate research quality, capability, and customer-centered decision making across the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Anthropology, Sociology, User Experience Research, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience conducting user research within product, healthcare, technology, or other customer-focused environments.
  • Expertise in both generative and evaluative research methods, with demonstrated ability to select and apply the appropriate methodology for a given problem space.
  • Demonstrated expertise facilitating workshops, synthesis sessions, and cross-functional decision-making processes that drive alignment and action from research findings.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to tailor research insights to diverse audiences ranging from individual contributors to senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex research initiatives in fast-paced and ambiguous environments.
  • Experience engaging with individuals in sensitive or health-related contexts, with a thoughtful and empathetic approach to research moderation and participant interactions.
  • Experience in digital health, healthcare, medical devices, or other regulated industries is preferred.
  • Passion for health, human performance, behavior change, and WHOOP’s mission to unlock human performance and healthspan.
  • Strong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks, ensuring AI-assisted work aligns with the same high-quality standards as personal contributions.

This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.

Interested in the role, but don’t meet every qualification? We encourage you to still apply! At WHOOP, we believe there is much more to a candidate than what is written on paper, and we value character as much as experience. As we continue to build a diverse and inclusive environment, we encourage anyone who is interested in this role to apply.

WHOOP is an Equal Opportunity Employer and participates in E-verify to determine employment eligibility

The WHOOP compensation philosophy is designed to attract, motivate, and retain exceptional talent by offering competitive base salaries, meaningful equity, and consistent pay practices that reflect our mission and core values.
