What You’ll Do
Summary/Objective:
The Consumer Lending Loan Officer is responsible for analyzing, underwriting, and making decisions on all consumer loan applications consistent with the credit union, department, and regulatory standards.
Essential Functions:

- Maintain a complete knowledge of all DCU products and services with a focus on Direct and Indirectconsumer loan programs, policies, and guidelines.
- Maintain knowledge of compliance laws applicable to consumer loan originations, including but not limited to: Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Regulation Z (Truth in Lending), Fair Lending, and other state and federal laws which may be applicable.
- Analyze the creditworthiness of the members with the aid of the Consumer Loan Origination (LOS) systems and by applying sound lending practices and procedures in accordance with the Credit Union's Loan Underwriting Guidelines.
- Approve, deny and counteroffer loan applications based on policies and guidelines, and document decisions. Provide thorough and accurate application recommendations to the Team Leader or Management when an application falls outside guidelines and/or authorized loan limits.
- Inform members, dealer partners, and branch staff of consumer loan decisions with tact and professionalism and within established time frames.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of department policy and procedure documents.
- Achieve monthly sales goal referrals as assigned by Team Leaders and Management, including cross selling additional products and services.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Managers(s).

- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two to four years of previous consumer lending experience.
- Previous customer service experience
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a Call Center environment preferred
- Ability to interpret financial statements
- Ability to read, understand, and analyze credit bureau reports and scores
