As a CBRE Chief Building Engineer Supervisor, you will supervise the team responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading ongoing maintenance and repair operations for a facility, a campus, or a portfolio of buildings. Plan, implement, coordinate and handle all mechanical operations, maintenance, communications, energy management, and workforce development programs.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the building's operational accounts and assist in the development of operating and capital budgets.
  • Impact the achievement of customer, operational, project, or service objectives across multi-discipline teams. Work is guided by functional policies which impact the design of procedures and policies.
  • Contribute to new products, processes, standards, and/or operational plans in support of achieving functional goals. Communicate difficult and complex ideas with the ability to influence.
  • Assist in operations and maintenance issues, fixing and problem solving as required.
  • Establish and maintain budgets for facilities maintenance.
  • Recommend and implement improvements for preventive maintenance programs and develop/maintain effective building-specific maintenance and safety procedure manuals.
  • Coordinate maintenance efforts with outside contractors, tenant finish personnel and technicians. Supervise all building systems including fire/life safety, plumbing, HVAC and electrical issues and stay current with the latest HVAC technology trends.
  • Respond to emergency situations quickly (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.) and address customer concerns.
  • Establish and monitor programs to ensure compliance with applicable codes, requisitions, government agency and company directives related to building operations.
  • Track the training and development of staff. Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching opportunities. Oversee recruiting and hiring of new employees.
  • Coordinate and lead the team’s daily activities. Establish work schedules, assign tasks, cross-train staff, set and track deadlines. Mentor and coach as needed.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience, GED, or trade school diploma with 5-8 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Previous experience in a leadership role preferred.
  • Universal CFC certification required. Additional certification in three or more of the following: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair. Certifications/licenses as may be required by local or state jurisdictions.
  • Requires sophisticated knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and commissions. Conducts advanced financial analysis.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Chief Building Engineer Supervisor position is $92,500 annually and the maximum salary for the Chief Building Engineer Supervisor position is $150,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
