Ecological Construction Crew Lead (GI Crew Lead)
Parterre Ecological integrates principles of ecology and horticulture to protect, promote and restore native plant communities.
Parterre Ecological is dedicated to the planning, implementation, and maintenance of a wide range of ecological restoration projects in greater Boston. This includes invasive plant management and native restoration planting on conservation lands, numerous residential sites, and urban green infrastructure. Green infrastructure projects are in all phases of development; from planning, installation, planting, maintenance and monitoring.
Parterre Ecological is currently seeking an Eco-Construction Crew to help us grow and provide field-based leadership on green infrastructure projects in greater Boston. The main responsibilities of the Eco-Construction Crew Lead will be to lead the installation of Green Infrastructure, Slope Stabilization, Path Installation and Machine-oriented work on multiple locations around greater Boston. The Eco-Construction Crew Lead will oversee Field Technician(s) with daily scopes of work; provide onsite guidance for Site management; mobilization and safety when working in Rights of Way, proper tool use; invasive plant management techniques; and native planting strategies and stewardship.
Responsibilities:
- Perform and lead proper methods of Green Infrastructure installation ranging from concrete removal, digging out biobasins, filling, and cutting inlets/outlet structures.
- Serve as primary machine operator for Eco-construction projects including large tree installations, machine removal of invasive species, Green Infrastructure, Path Installations and more.
- Oversee and work alongside Field Technicians in the field on multiple project sites throughout work week.
- Attend scheduled bi-weekly meetings with clients as appropriate
- Communicate daily with Field Manager to anticipate and plan for projects in multiple phases of development.
- Maintain the highest standard of timeliness, cleanliness and organization of tools, trucks, and safety standards for Field Technicians
- Guide Field Technicians in the identification of native and invasive plant species and best horticultural maintenance practices
- Review and evaluate written Field Notes and Monitoring of sites
- Work across varied sites, occasionally in inclement weather conditions, in areas that often contain hazards
Qualifications:
- National Green Infrastructure Certification (NGICP) preferred, or ability to obtain certification during the first available training session
- 3-5 Years of Machine Operating Experience in a landscape construction-oriented role
- Demonstrated capacity to lead and inspire staff while meeting project deadlines
- Ability to collaboratively organize and prioritize scopes of work for field crews with emphasis on managing construction-related sites
- Knowledge and field identification of native and invasive plant species
- Willingness to continue education and acquire Massachusetts Certified Horticulturist (MCH), Massachusetts Association of Landscape Professionals (MALP) or equivalent certifications in green industry
About the Position:
The GI Crew Lead position with Parterre Ecological is a seasonal full-time position (typically March - December) with limited winter hours.
Parterre offers seven (7) days of earned sick leave and four (5) paid holidays, plus one (1) paid company summer outing. There is a retirement program with company match, an Open Book bonus program earning additional pay, medical/dental insurance, training, and educational reimbursement.
The position will include access to a company truck with necessary tools.

Main office in Billerica. Project locations are around greater Boston.
