Summary
The Town of Shrewsbury is seeking a proactive field leader to serve as the Supervisor of our Parks & Cemetery Maintenance Division . Reporting to the Division Manager, you will be responsible for the frontline execution of maintenance programs across the Town's parks, recreation areas, and cemeteries.
This role requires a candidate who can balance supervisory responsibilities with hands-on manual work, ensuring that field operations are completed safely, efficiently, and according to schedule. You will lead a dedicated crew, providing the technical guidance and oversight necessary to keep Shrewsbury’s public grounds and historic cemeteries in pristine condition.
What You'll Do
Directly supervise and participate in the daily maintenance of parks, athletic fields, and grounds, including landscaping, structures, and seasonal snow plowing.

Coordinate cemetery services, including laying out lots, preparing graves for interment, and maintaining accurate maps and records in collaboration with the Cemetery Program Manager.

Lead, train, and coach division personnel, fostering a culture of accountability and ensuring all work meets Town quality and safety standards.

Perform facility inspections and schedule repairs, managing the upkeep of water lines, faucets, and other critical infrastructure.

Support asset management and data collection by maintaining an up-to-date inventory of physical assets and identifying operational trends for process improvement.

Monitor equipment and vehicles to ensure all tools and machinery are properly serviced, maintained, and ready for daily operations.
What We're Looking For
A High School Diploma and technical training in equipment and grounds maintenance.

Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in landscaping, turf management, or municipal maintenance operations.

Proven leadership and coaching skills with the ability to exercise independent judgment and maintain professional relationships with contractors and the public.

Required Certifications: Valid Massachusetts Class B CDL, Hoisting Engineer's license (Class 2B), and a Pesticide Applicator license.
