Position Overview
The Construction Foreperson will oversee and direct all facets of construction crew operations and personnel.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties & Functions)
· Adhere to and follow all safety rules and regulations of MSHA/OSHA/DOT and P.J. Keating Company.
· Assist in the layout of project.
· Assist in on the job training of crew members.
· Take part in daily crew and equipment management.
· Assist in direction of appropriate traffic control methods and techniques wherever necessary.
· Assist in completion of required paperwork on a daily, weekly, and as needed basis.
· Understand production needs and maintain contact with the asphalt plant (i.e., progress of the job, projected tonnage per day, breakdowns, periodically monitor yield and overruns to assure compliance, etc.)
· Communicate with construction crew relative to the specific daily responsibilities, including job review, specific expectations, proper conduct, proper attire, and safety.
· Daily communications with the Construction Manager and other supervisory personnel regarding project status.
· Proper communications with asphalt plant relative to start up and stop times.
· Ensure projects/job sites are operating in a safe manner.
· Various other duties as assigned.
Skills & Specifications
· Ability to make independent decisions daily.
· Ability to display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
· Possess a strong drive to fulfill commitments and tremendous enthusiasm.
· Report to the assigned job site with appropriate personal protective equipment and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
· Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
· Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures.
· Must be willing travel and work away from home when required.
· Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and overtime when necessary.
Education/Professional Experience
· High School Diploma or equivalent education; and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Previous supervisory experience preferred.
· Previous experience in the heavy highway or paving industry preferred.
