Interventional Radiology Technologist
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Interventional Radiology Technologist to join the team of one of Massachusetts leading hospital systems. As an IR Tech you will be working under the supervision of Radiologists and in accordance with established policies and procedures, you will operate advanced imaging equipment to obtain fluoroscopic images and assist physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided vascular procedures. This role requires a commitment to providing professional, high-quality patient care and working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
As an Interventional Radiology Technologist, you will prepare patients for procedures, administer contrast media and medications (within your scope of practice), and monitor patient conditions during and after procedures, responding to changes as necessary. You may also have opportunities to mentor new staff, contribute to protocol development, and engage in professional growth and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Excellence:
- Perform diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures in adherence to radiology protocols.
- Assist physicians with interventional procedures, maintaining sterile technique and ensuring proper equipment handling.
- Monitor and respond to patient conditions during procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to developmental stages, cultural differences, and diverse patient needs.
- Professional Development:
- Pursue continuing education opportunities to remain up to date with advancements in the field.
- Actively participate in quality assurance initiatives and data collection.
- Maintain certifications, including ARRT registration, and prepare for advanced specialty certifications.
- Team Collaboration:
- Foster positive relationships within the healthcare team and participate in collaborative discussions.
- Serve as a mentor or preceptor for new staff, sharing expertise and knowledge.
- Demonstrate strong delegation and communication skills in a team setting.
- Procedural Competence:
- Independently scrub, circulate, and document interventional procedures.
- Handle on-call responsibilities and respond effectively to emergencies.
- Successfully complete and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Qualifications:
- Required Education & Experience:
- Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
- Graduation from an approved radiology program.
- Preferred Experience:
- 1 year of experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist.
- Certifications (Required):
- Radiography (ARRT)
- Vascular Interventional Radiologic (ARRT)
- State of Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist License
- ACLS and Basic Cardiac Life Support (AHA)
- Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient in operating computer applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and exhibit self-motivation.
