Interim Assistant Principal
This position is until June 30 2026. The Interim Assistant Principal reports to the School Principal. Primary responsibilities include assisting the principal in the areas of student staff community and school leadership. Unless otherwise directed by the Superintendent or the Principal he/she assumes leadership of the school in the absence of the Marshall Middle School serves grades 5-7 with 600 students. The school is divided into academic teams in the core content areas of English Social Studies Math and Science. There are currently four 5th grade teams two 6th grade teams and two 7th grade teams. Students are also enrolled in music drama art wood shop health physical education world language and technology. After school activities are offered in various areas of student interest and are well attended by mission of the Marshall Middle School is to provide a safe and positive learning environment that fosters student achievement and success for RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Be responsible to the Principal for the development and improvement of the educational program for Grades 5-7.2. Supervise and support the teachers and promote professional growth positive student/teacher relationships that will enhance student learning.3. Maintain active communication with parents regarding the academic and behavioral progress of students.4. Maintain high standards of student conduct and enforce discipline as necessary according to due process to the rights of students.5. Assist the Principal on the development of the master schedule.6. Supervise the reporting and monitoring of student attendance.7. Support students adherence to the schools expectations for good conduct standards.8. Assist in the counseling of students with attendance problems and with discipline.9. Supervise the daily operations of the school.10. Foster a positive relationship with staff and students while maintaining a presence in the building hallways school grounds and cafeteria.11. Assist in the monitoring of the maintenance conditions within the school building. 12. Maintain a supportive presence at student activities events and at athletic events. 13. Assist with the supervision and evaluation of all professional paraprofessional and support personnel in the school.14. Assist in providing leadership and support for the schools Professional Learning Communities and professional development for staff.15. Conduct staff meetings including in-service and mandatory training as necessary for the proper functioning of the school.16. Work in concert with the Special Education Department on the successful implementation and maintenance of special education programs and services within the building.17. Facilitate a Student/Teacher Assistant Team process.18. Responsible for the safety and administration of the school facilities including any safety-related drills and procedures.19. Organize student groups for student advisories and MCAS implementation.20. Carry out other duties as assigned by the QUALIFICATIONS:-Masters Degree from an accredited college or university with advanced graduate work in the area of educational administration preferred. Valid Massachusetts Licence as a Principal/Assistant Principal Grades 5-7.-Teaching and/or administrative experience in middle school setting totaling a minimum of five (5) years.-Strong computer skills with the ability to utilize technology in all facets of the AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As per negotiated agreement between Billerica School Committee and Billerica Administrative Group .
