We are seeking a Data Science Lead to join our growing BI organization and spearhead the development of statistical and machine learning models that will power predictive intelligence across the company. This role offers a unique opportunity to establish the data science function, drive high-impact use cases, and contribute directly to strategic decision-making.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on modeler who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is passionate about transforming business questions into data-driven solutions. This role will begin as an individual contributor, with the potential to build and lead a small team over time.

This position is remotely based. We are unable to offer work sponsorship for this role.

Your impact:

• Model Development & Deployment
• Design, build, and validate statistical, predictive, and machine learning models to drive business insights and automation.
• Partner with BI analysts and Finance to identify high-impact opportunities for modeling.
• Work with engineering teams to productionize models and integrate them into business workflows and dashboards.
• Strategic Problem Solving
• Lead exploratory data analysis and hypothesis testing to uncover patterns, trends, and opportunities.
• Translate ambiguous business problems into clearly defined modeling challenges with measurable outcomes.
• Collaboration & Leadership
• Serve as the go-to data science expert within BI, educating and influencing cross-functional partners.
• Mentor junior team members (initially 0–1) and help define the long-term vision for the data science team.
• Innovation & Best Practices
• Promote rigorous methodology, model interpretability, and transparent communication of findings.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging techniques in machine learning, forecasting, and AI.

About you:

• 5+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or applied statistics.
• Education in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience with data visualization and communication of insights to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with MLOps, model monitoring, or deploying models in production environments.
• Familiarity with Tableau
• Strong proficiency in Python (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn, statsmodels) and SQL.
• Proven track record of building predictive models that have driven business value.
• Deep understanding of statistical modeling, time series forecasting, and/or supervised learning techniques.
• Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience in the food service, distribution, or supply chain domains is a plus.
