Staff Systems Engineer
Draeger Medical Systems, Inc., Andover, MA seeks Staff Systems Engineers - Define and manage system requirements, system specifications to include analyzing system requirements, user needs, system design, and coordinate the System Engineering activities using requirements management tools DOORs. Responsible for translation of product requirements into technical system requirements (TSRs) and/or technical sub-system requirements (TSSRs) for new products and feature enhancements to existing product portfolio with the collaboration of contributing disciplines (e.g. Electronics, Mechanics, Software Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Product Qualification, Risk Management, and Production). Responsible for system integration planning and collaboration with contributing disciplines on execution of system integration tests. Document requirements for interfaces between products and between subsystems within a product to ensure that systems function meet requirements. Coordinate the design and testing of interfaces between products and subsystems to ensure system functions meet requirements. Manage the Product and System Requirement Management System (DOORS) for the Product. Serve as technical lead responsible for holding periodic design reviews in this area and evaluate and compare architectures of systems that employ embedded processors and FPGAsand help decompose the system architecture into software, hardware and mechanical components. Working on medical device product development within a highly regulated environment, iterate with Clinical team, Usability team, System architects and the Engineering teams to develop the optimal compromise between HW and SW solutions to deliver experiences that meet the Product expectations. Perform safety hazard/risk analyses on products/systems with the collaboration of contributing disciplines (e.g., Electronics, Mechanics, Software Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Production) in accordance with internal processes and standards (e.g., ISO 14971), including usability hazards that may result due to normal use, reasonably foreseeable misuse, or abnormal use.Support System Architects with MATLAB Simulink models to perform design calculations and simulations for design proposals and enhancements and conduct model-based System Architectural analysis and high-level designs using MATLAB for evaluating the System performance and clinical tests results data for analysis of the system. Analyze clinical test data using MATLAB for identifying any design anomaly and support resolving system design weakness and predict design capability. Provide technical leadership and collaborate with Platform Designers, System Risk Managers, and System Architects for the purpose of ensuring that requirements meet the needs of the patient monitoring portfolio. Partner with Product Management, Program Management, and System Definition Team to own the end-to-end system architecture, design, and delivery plan for the current and next generation Patient monitoring portfolio. Mentor and train junior engineers including System Engineers and System Designers. Training contributing disciplines on the development and management (elicitation, writing, and change control) of requirements according to internal procedures (e.g. IN4000 processes) as well as industry best-practices to include operating under the required Medical Safety and IEC regulatory standards including IEC60601, IEC62443 standards. Perform other System Engineering duties as needed and assigned to include utilizing signal processing, embedded processors and FPGA, medical devices, electronics and sensors.
Your QualificationsRequires Bachelor's (or foreign educ. equiv.) Degree in Electronics Engineering or related and five (5) yrs. (post-degree, progressive) experience in Job Offered or related.
Experience must have included Medical device product development within a highly regulated environment; Define and manage system requirements, system specifications to include analyzing system requirements, user needs, system design, and coordinate the System Engineering activities using requirements management tools DOORs; Act in a technical lead role utilizing signal processing, embedded processors and FPGA, medical devices, electronics and sensors; Conduct model-based System Architectural analysis and high-level designs using MATLAB for evaluating the System performance and clinical tests results data for analysis of the system; Evaluate and compare architectures of systems that employ embedded processors and FPGAs; Operate under the required Medical Safety and IEC regulatory standards including IEC60601, IEC62443 standards; and Develop, plan, and execute system integration plan, strategies and system Engineering test execution and analyzing the test data activities.
