Job Title: Laboratory Support Technician

Location: Hyannis, MA 02601

Duration: 13 Weeks Contract

Shift: 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Position Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Laboratory Support Technician to join a healthcare team on a contract basis. This role is essential in ensuring efficient laboratory operations, specimen processing, and coordination of laboratory information while supporting technical staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide professional coordination of laboratory information and specimen processing
• Deliver excellent customer service to patients, staff, and external stakeholders
• Perform data processing tasks including order entry, result entry, cancellations, and record retrieval
• Operate and troubleshoot laboratory computer systems and support backup processes
• Answer calls, relay messages, and provide accurate information regarding lab procedures and results
• Verify and process incoming specimens, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and distribution
• Prepare specimens for shipment to reference laboratories and ensure proper documentation
• Coordinate and file reference lab reports
• Maintain inventory, order supplies, and organize stock
• Assist with pre-analytical specimen processing (centrifuging, aliquoting, labeling, prioritization)
• Support specimen collection, including blood draws as assigned
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, hospital policies, and confidentiality standards
• Assist in quality assurance data collection and other departmental projects

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and follow written instructions effectively
• Typing speed of at least 30 WPM
• Completion of Medical Terminology coursework or successful completion of a medical terminology assessment (minimum 80%)
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in roles such as:
  • Laboratory Assistant
  • Patient Care Technician (PCT)
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Phlebotomist
  • Unit Clerk / Medical Secretary
  • Diagnostic Technician or similar healthcare support roles
• Strong data entry and computer system skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
