Project Finance Accountant, Construction (AIA Billing)
Build with numbers. Lead with insight.
What if your financial acumen could shape the outcome of every project? As the Project Finance Accountant, you will operate under the guidance of the Vice President of Finance to orchestrate job cost control, contracts and billing, and compliance, while translating data into clear, timely forecasts. You’ll rely on expert-level Sage 300 Construction & Real Estate skills and confidently manage documentation and workflows in Procore.
What you will tackle first
- Stand up project structures in Sage 300 CRE — budgets, cost codes, commitments, and forecast models.
- Issue monthly job cost reporting and partner with Project Managers to assess variances and refine monthly Projection of Profit and Loss.
- Build invoices in Sage (AIA G702/G703 and cost-plus/T&M), ensuring schedules of values, change orders, and billing rates are spot-on.
- Coordinate percent-complete billing and projected revenue, and help drive on-time submissions and collections.
Own the details that drive performance
- Maintain visibility into subcontractor and vendor costs, committed spend, and cost-to-complete.
- Watch retention and cash flow throughout each project; escalate notable patterns and trends.
- Execute month-end activities — accruals, reconciliations, and audit-ready project documentation.
- Administer subcontractor insurance tracking using myCOI; keep vendor records synchronized across Sage, myCOI, and Procore; update compliance dashboards.
- Review vendor invoices and subcontractor pay apps for coding accuracy and payment eligibility.
- Provide guidance and oversight across payroll and accounts payable; coordinate inter-company billables and payables.
Enable accountability and clarity
- Prepare financial, contract status, compliance, and job cost reports for leadership.
- Support internal/external audits with organized, detailed documentation.
- Maintain internal controls and ensure adherence to company policies.
- Assist the Vice President of Finance in maintaining journals, ledgers, and accounts with periodic reconciliations for GAAP accuracy and process compliance.
- Assist with monthly/quarterly financial statements, annual budgeting, external audits, tax filings (including 1099s), fixed asset tracking, monthly reconciliations, required journal entries, and ad-hoc reports and analyses requested by departments or Corporate.
Beyond the core
- Produce additional analyses and reporting at the request of the Vice President of Finance.
- Support operations with supplemental job performance reporting.
