The Role
This position oversees all aspects of legal billing and invoicing for the firm and plays a key role in supporting attorneys and firm leadership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing, generating, and managing attorney pre-bills for review and submission
- Maintaining and monitoring attorney time entries and billing data
- Ensuring accuracy and consistency in all billing information
- Working with LEDES billing formats and client-specific billing guidelines
- Submitting invoices through multiple e-billing platforms, including TimeSlips, Tymetrix, Legal Tracker, Legal X, SimpleLegal, TeamConnect, Acuity, and Brightflag
- Reviewing, troubleshooting, and resolving invoice rejections and discrepancies
- Tracking invoice status and following up on outstanding accounts
- Coordinating vendor payments and ensuring expenses are properly invoiced and billed
- Working closely with the firm’s external bookkeeper during monthly visits
- Assisting with check requests and internal financial coordination
- Interfacing with outsourced payroll and HR vendors as needed
- Providing day-to-day billing and administrative support to attorneys and managing partners
What the Firm Is Looking For
- Demonstrated hands-on legal billing experience in a law firm or legal environment
- Strong working knowledge of legal timekeeping and e-billing platforms
- Familiarity with LEDES billing requirements
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines independently
- Professional, confident communication style when working with attorneys, partners, and vendors
- Practical billing competence is valued more than tenure
Compensation
- Base salary approximately $80,000 to $100,000, depending on background and skill set
