Position Title: Part-time Lecturer in Art and Artificial Intelligence
Department: School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts Position Type: Faculty Qualifications: An MFA or equivalent terminal degree in FIne Arts, Design, Media Arts, or a related field is required. A minimum of two years teaching experience at the college or university level is required. Candidates must have an artistic or design practice that critically engages with technology, specifically with artificial intelligence, including cultural, political, and eithical discourses surrounding its development and application. Practioners working across media, and whose primary practice relates to computer animation, video installation, and/or graphic arts are stronly encouraged to apply. Pedological approaches that value experimentation, critical making, and the integration of theory and practice are particularly welcome. Description: The DIgital Media area of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University invites artists working with AI to apply to teach a couse titled "Art/Archives/AI" in Fall 2026. The course covers the use of artificial intelligence within broader artistic, social, and political contexts. This area is looking for an art practiioner who brings critical depth to the subject -- one who understands AI not merely as an art tool but as a cultural force with specific histories, power structures, and material consequences. Relevant critical frameworks may include, but are not limited to: indigenous epistemologies and their relationship to technological systems; critiques of platform capitalism and digital feudalism; interrogations of how archives encode and perpetuate bias, exclusion, and authority.
