Collections Specialist

We are partnering with a prestigious professional services client in Boston, MA, to find a detail-oriented Collections Specialist for a direct-hire opportunity. This is a vital role within a firm known for its collaborative and growth-focused culture, where you will be empowered to make a real impact on operational success. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth management of payment processes, which includes reviewing cash receipts, handling attorney appeals, and collaborating with internal teams and clients to resolve outstanding balances.

salary: $60,000 - $70,000 per year

Responsibilities

In this dynamic, fast-paced role, you will play a key part in ensuring the smooth management of payment processes and contributing to operational success within a collaborative, growth-focused culture. You will be responsible for the timely resolution of outstanding balances, working closely with clients, attorneys, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review daily payments for accurate and timely posting; manage missing payments, write-offs, and appeal requests.
• Proactively follow up on overdue invoices with all relevant parties (claim reps, adjusters, and clients).
• Collaborate with legal and billing teams to manage appeal submissions and invoice corrections.
• Maintain up-to-date client records, tracking outstanding balances and sending follow-up reminders.
• Provide exceptional customer service, prepare reports, and update internal procedures.

Qualifications:

• 3–4+ years of experience in collections, billing, or finance (preferably in the legal or insurance sectors).
• Attention to detail, accuracy in payment processing, and solid problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for liaising with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
• Proficiency with relevant finance and office software.
