Field Service Engineer (MA)

Our client is a leader in the field of thermal processing and environmental testing, serving a multitude of industries ranging from aerospace to pharmaceuticals. They are currently seeking a Field Service Engineer to join their team and travel regionally across the U.S. Northeast.

This role involves the execution and coordination of various tasks related to the installation, investigation, and rectification of technical problems of equipment such as industrial ovens, environmental simulated test chambers, and pharmaceutical devices. The objective is to prevent future operational or service impediments.

Key Responsibilities:

*Implementation of new or modified machinery at the client's location, ensuring full functionality in line with set standards.

*Role includes the coordination and participation in setting up the test unit or system, connecting appropriate valves, pumps, hydraulic, mechanical or electrical controls, cabling, tubes, power sources, and indicators.

*Regulation of controls to apply electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical power for testing the product.

*Evaluation of performance reports from customers and field representatives and inspection of malfunctioning equipment to ascertain the nature and extent of any problems.

*Execution of repairs for units not functioning up to specifications, including electrical and HVAC systems and controls.

*Analysis of findings to determine the root cause of problems, subsequently making recommendations for repair, replacement, and other corrective measures.

*Effective collaboration with engineering and customer service teams to expedite repairs.

*Provision of onsite assistance in troubleshooting and repair, coupled with maintaining performance reports.

*Evaluation of technical issues and identifying trends that might impact future designs, production, service, and maintenance processes, recommending changes to prevent future difficulties.

*Functioning as the communication bridge between the customer and our organization, ensuring satisfactory service delivery to the customer.

*Developing and conducting equipment operational safety training, demonstrating skills to trainees (team members or customers).

*Recommending modifications to existing quality or production standards to reach the best quality within equipment capability.

*Writing corrective action reports and communicating issues to the management for assessment.

Qualifications:

*Associate's degree (AA) or an equivalent from an accredited two-year college or technical school.

*6 months to 1 year in related role, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.

*Certified with a Universal Refrigeration certification and/or Electrical certification/training and a valid driver's license.

*Skilled in reading electrical schematics and plumbing diagrams, with an ability to troubleshoot wiring using multi-meters and amp probes.

*Experience with programming and adjusting PLCs and VFDs. Comfortable with troubleshooting process control systems and electrical and gas-fired heating systems.

*Ability to travel 85% of the time, both domestically and internationally, for installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks.

*Demonstrated mathematical abilities, including proficiency in basic arithmetic, geometry, and the capability to create and interpret bar graphs.
