LINE OF RESPONSIBILITY: The Dental Hygienist reports to the Dental Hygienist Supervisor

PURPOSE: To provide direct preventive care to patients. The range of tasks varies from

performing periodontal procedures and placing sealants to patient education;

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Perform periodontal and preventive procedures.
2. Properly take and analyze patient health history, patient education.
3. Take radiographs.
4. Maintain instruments and machinery (sterilizer, autoclave).
5. Proper cleaning and sterilization of instruments.
6. Sharpening instruments.
7. Be current on new requirements for sterilization and maintenance of equipment and operatories.
8. Be current on infection control.
9. Maintaining stocked hygiene supplies.
10. Accompany patients to/from waiting area.
11. Call patients to confirm, schedule and cancel appointments when the front desk is unable to do so or to fill openings in your schedule.
12. File charts each day.
13. Maintain professional relationship with patients when in the office.
14. Maintain professional manner and appearance while in the office.
15. Participate in community outreach programs as requested.
16. Avoid outside activities which might have a direct negative affect on the practice.
17. Be prompt and see patients in a timely manner.
18. Assist dentist as required.
19. Other duties as assigned.

This position will be located in Huntington and Worthington, with one day required at our Amherst location.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be certified as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current Massachusetts license.
• 0 – 2 years experience
